Hi,
I think it's time for an update to let you know what is going on for this year's FirehawkFest. We still have a few things to get worked out, but the basics are set.
Friday night, October 5th - Hallmark Suites: cocktail reception during "Happy Hour" from 5-7PM in the Hotel. Just a social gathering for those staying at the Hallmark or anyone interested in attending and meeting and socializing with some of our fellow Firehawk owners. Cocktails are free for registered guests, and may be purchased by anyone wishing to attend who is not a guest of the Hallmark Suites. It is open to all! If you have not booked a room yet and wish to do so, call: 1-800-444-1089 during the week or 1-(916)-638-4141 anytime and make sure you tell them you want the $79 FirehawkFest Rate!!! Laurie Kew is their General Manager and she will be happy to help you. Don't forget, they have free carwash facilities on the premises (a hose and a bucket) and exclusive "Firehawk Only" parking.
Saturday, October 6th - Car Show at Les Schwab Tires, 4746 Madison Ave., Sacramento, CA. Set up at 9 AM and judging to start after 10 AM, maybe as late as 11AM. I have 2 SCCA judges set up to judge our cars and we will also have a popular vote, so we will have 2 sets of trophies to hand out. Due to the cost of the awards handed out, we have to set up a $5 charge per member to help offset the costs. The FAOA has to pay for all of the awards given out. Lunch and prizes will be provided by Les Schwab. All awards for the car show will be handed out at the conclusion of the car show. Only FAOA memebrs are eligible for prizes and trophies.
Saturday night, October 6th - Dinner at Cattlemens restaurant again. DEADLINE OF SEPTEMBER 21ST!!! I must have your payment in by then so I can tell them how many of each dinner to have ready for our group. Right now dinner is set for a 6PM start. We will have a cash bar open and then seating for dinner will follow. After dinner we will have Reg Harris from SLP as our guest speaker again this year. I will make certain that I allow more time for Reg this year, and he has promised not to allow the airlines to lose his luggage and all associated materials for the FirehawkFest. Dave Hamburger from SLP is also scheduled to attend this year's Fest as is Wayne Thomas; FAOA president and founder! This is going to be great year for the Fest so please plan on attending as we have some great guests involved this year.
Sunday AM, October, 7th - Meet at the Hallmark Suites about 9:30 for a cruise to the Park! Please, if you have access to a two way radio (like the Motorola Talk-Abouts) bring them with. They are an invaluable tool in a cruise. Hopefully we can stay together this year with the help of these radios and the better time of day for cruising.
Sunday, October 7th - Picnic in the Park. We'll try to get the picnic underway around 12 o'clock for those people from out of town and who want to get an early start on the trip back home. The FAOA will be providing food, drink, desert and more. There is a charge of $7.50 per person for the lunch in the park. I will do BOTH, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Round Table Pizza. When you return your entry to me please specify what you want to eat. For example, if two of you will be attending, say "1 Pizza and 1 KFC" or whatever your choices are. AND....ALSO specify what kind of pizza and what kind of chicken you would like. I can not personally cater to every individual taste, but I will do my best. We will be doing the side dishes like cole slaw and potato salad too, but let me know what you want when you return your payment and slip to me. I am open to suggestions for soft drinks also. Beer is allowed in the park, but I can not furnish beer to guests. You are free to bring your own if you wish. Hopefully I will have enough ice and space in the coolers to keep your personal beverages chilled for you.
AGAIN this year we will be doing the prizes the same way as last year. If you attend (1)The car show at Les Schwab, (2)The dinner at Cattlemens and (3)The picnic on Sunday (all 3 events), you will be given a special ticket. That ticket will go into a seperate group of tickets from which one ticket will be drawn and that lucky person get the first choice of all the prizes that the FAOA wil be giving away to current FAOA members. Please make sure that your dues are current before the Fest. If you paid your dues at or before the last Fest, they are due again. Only members who dues are current are eligible for trophies and prizes that are awarded by the FAOA. You must be present to win any prizes in the drawing. The drawing will be held immediatley following the picnic lunch.
Something new this year, Mac Logan (Firehawk Data Dude) has genreously offered to make a $50.00 cash donation that will be awarded to the Long Distance winner at this year's Fest. This is in addition to the Long Distance award itself.
Any questions please let me know! Watch for updates at our web site: www.firehawk.org
