Event Information

Hi,

I've been meaning to get a message out to you for some time now. I'd like to keep you all updated on the latest information about the FirehawkFest and other items that may be of interest to you.

The dates are set for this year's FirehawkFest. It will be the first weekend in October; October 5, 6 and 7. I have already contacted the Hallmark Suites and they have agreed to be our host Hotel again this year and offer us the same great deal at the same great price! Last year we booked 13 rooms and this year they are holding a block of ONLY 10 rooms for us. After these 10 are gone, there is no guarantee of room availability or rates. You can reserve a room for one night or up to three nights (Fri. to Sun.) at the same $79.00 rate. If you cancel your reservation by 4PM on the day of your request, there will be no charge to you, so I urge you to book your rooms early as there will be no penalty as long as you cancel your reservation in time. Make sure you mention the FirehawkFest to get the special rate. You can ask for Laurie Kew or Yvette Dickson. Their toll free number is 1-800-444-1089. Try to call during daytime business hours to speak directly to Laurie or Yvette. Or, you can email Laurie at .

Once again, they will offer us an exclusive "Firehawk Only!" parking area and free use of an area with water and buckets to wash off the road grime from our Firehawks. They also feature free made to order breakfasts for up to 4 people and 2 hours each evening of free cocktails and snacks along with all the amenities in your suite.

I have also spoken to SLP's Reg Harris and once again he has agreed to be our guest speaker at our dinner this year. We will be doing a Saturday night dinner at the same place as last year's luncheon; the Cattlemens Restaurant in Rancho Cordova, CA.

I am still working on several possibilities for the car show part of the weekend as the Sacramento chapter of the Pontiac Club has not even set a date for their show this year. We might even do a solo show this year to see how it goes. I am still working on this, so things may change as time goes by.

I emailed most of you recently and asked about your interest in a gathering in June for a cookout. From the response I got, it looks like June 9th would be the best date for such a gathering. So here is what I'd like to do; If you want to attend our BBQ/Gathering in the park in Elk Grove on June 9th please let me know. I am going to put my wife (Shelley) in charge of this and she will try to coordinate those who want to bring a side dish to the BBQ. I will arrange for 2-3 BBQ's to be there and you will have to bring your own meat and one side dish. If you would like to attend this gathering let me know and I will contact you personally about what to bring. We will need things like chips, paper plates and plastic utensils, potato salad and various other side dishes. Email me if you want to attend and bring something with you.

Also, the local Trans Am club is having their Trans-A-Rama this July 13, 14 and 15. It includes a car show, cruise, dinner (Reg Harris as guest speaker) and autocrossing. If you want more info, please contact Dave Gershon at: and he will mail you some information as well as an entry form. It sounds like a great weekend of fun with racing and showing. Hope to see a few Firehawks in attendance.

One more thing, I am planning on attending the Firehawk rally in Ohio this August and if someone else is interested in the same let me know and we can start a small convoy here in California and make it grow as we reach for Ohio, rolling into Norwalk in a rahter large group of Firehawks with Matt Bennett's help from Des Moines on in.

Any further questions please feel free to let me know on anything I may have missed or not explained fully. Just email me at:

Regards, Bob
